You are invited to FPI’s new FREE event”Tax Justice NY: Moving from Austerity to Prosperity” in Albany on Monday, December 9th, from 11:30 am – 2:30 pm in Meeting Room 5, Empire State Plaza. Our state’s tax policy is a tool we can all use to eliminate existing racial, ethnic, and gender inequities and increase economic equality for all New Yorkers.  We are excited to partner with state and national advocacy organizations to bring these informative and energizing panel discussions to Albany in preparation for the 2020 state legislative session.  

11:30 am – 11:55 am “Surveying the 2020 Landscape”
New York State needs to commit to ensuring that its residents have equal access to economic opportunity and the tools necessary to achieve financial success. This talk will explore what we’ve achieved and where we still need to make significant progress.

Fully funding programs and services are essential to progress, and New York State needs revenue to address many long-neglected issues. This panel will discuss what revenue-boosting policies could be enacted to ensure our state can grow equitably.

Our state budget is subject to a 2 percent growth cap, with much state spending held flat for years. Join us to explore the impact of the cap on our state’s infrastructure, both human and physical (human services, housing, education, and health care).
